What is a funeral ceremony?

We have an opportunity to gather together and share our grief. To also celebrate the life of the one we have lost. Yes we could forgo a ceremony. We could have a direct cremation. We may lose the chance to share our grief with others who share our strong feelings in this moment. A ceremony connects and reconnects us with those who also shared the life of the one who has now passed. Emotional support and bonds old and new can be forged at this time.
